Gray holds up a BIG COW
Marco,
I like your linguistic background to the definition of simulation. Your definition was quite thorough.
In your definition and literature review, I appreciate how you included some of the earlier buzzwords we learned inductive learning, multiple intelligences, constructivism, and concept attainment. What I got from your review was that simulators are promising because they incorporate the other pedagogical tools we learned about in iMET. However, you go on to point out drawbacks such as cost, time to set them up, and whether they do produce better results than the other pedagogical tools.
This reflects my concerns on simulators. Aside from being cheaper than the real thing, they still cost in teachers time and budget. If one sets up his/her own simulation, it takes time. If we look for off the shelf simulators, they are usually proprietary and cost something to acquire. Then, especially in the case of off the shelf products, would they be adaptable to the classroom under all circumstances?
I enjoy what you have to say.
